The wedding was really fun. Joe and I drove down Friday afternoon, visited a winery, and had dinner on top of the nearby mountain at the ski resort, which was the only hopping place in the region. It's a pretty sleepy area. Saturday we goofed off in the nearby town looking at antiques, having delicious lunch at a cute little place, and then meeting up with Jenn and Jet in Waynesboro, a prosaic town that seems deserted by everyone who is more interested in living where it is actually pretty. We had drinks at the local A&W and then went down into the valley to visit a winery, but we didn't do the tasting because it wasn't free.
The wedding itself was gorgeous. It was at a winery, and the ceremony was outdoors, surrounded by beautiful hills with trees changing colors (mildly... the foliage isn't prime this year with the warm weather). They had the musicians play Sweet Caroline at the end, which did not cause a big sing-along because it seemed most of the guests were lame. There was a reception inside and then dinner in a big ballroom. We were seated at the bandie table, which was fun. The cake was chocolatey and lovely and I will post flickr pics eventually.
So, it was fun and tiring, and now I have to try to get work done before I go to Boston this coming weekend.

Weekends of busyness begin, starting this weekend with Dave and Court's wedding in VA. Joe and I are staying at this little bed and breakfast, and it'll be great to see some of the crew, since I've totally skivved on my Boston visiting duties. That will be remedied next weekend when I go to town for the Foundation meeting and the Dartmouth game.
It'll be nice to get out of town... I think it's making us all collectively cranky.

I had a really hard time getting up Friday too. Sleepiness and dreams. When I went to bed the night before I was thinking about people I might see at various upcoming weddings, and they they all appeared in my dreams, and I was at some kind of Band reunion. Weirdness.
Last night Joe and I went to Kumari for dinner; it was tasty. Then we vegged around here and watched Jay Leno. He cleaned his fridge, and he said that there was this tupperware dish expanded with gasses, and when he opened it, a plume of black smoke puffed out. I think it was probably mold spores. Yech. At least I didn't have to help.
Today we went to Lexington Market to buy a cake for my department picnic. we got a Boston Creme that was delicious. Everyone was supposed to bring a dessert, which meant there were a million of them, and now I'm all sugared out.

Joe left me here to sleep while he went to class. I thought when I woke up it was around 10:30. But it was really 11:30. Ooops. Guess I'll be getting to school late today, since I still have to bus it home and exercise and shower.

I read about Twitter again in Wired today, so I thought I'd check it out and sign up. Apparently it's no fun, though, unless all your friends join, but if they do, then you always have this idea about what's going on in their lives. So, uh, join and hook up with me, madqween.

On the Twitter thing, if you can't find me in search you can find me at twitter.com/madqween and then hit the button to follow me (and then I will follow you).
I'm supposed to mention on here how Joe's fridge is horrendously gross. I think there are things in there that are from before I went to Malawi. There are like dirty dishes and crap in there. He said there is a bot with couscous covered with so much mold that the mold is starting to push the lid off the pot. It's going to creep out and strangle him in the night.

It's funny that Storey has changed his blog posting page and style out of being just done with the old format right around the time I feel the same way about blogging. I feel like I have nothing to say, probably because life is fun and good. But while Storey migrates to longer blog posts -- quite functional for him -- I feel like the primary purpose of my blog has become less about art and woe than to keep assorted people updated about what is going on with my life. So, I dunno. Maybe I'll try to just make it a daily habit to jot a few notes about what happened, without too much concern over things like sentences or format. Or maybe I'll just retire. Tough to say. This blog has been around a long time. But maybe it's just boring now.
Anyhoo, Joe and I had a great time on LBI. Drove up Thursday, wedding was Friday. The reception was on the bay - open bar, beautiful sunset. Saturday we shopped, Sunday we chilled on the beach with the family and drove back. I got to meet the extended Venanzi side of the family; they're crazy and fun.
I've been trying to get my Robert Wood Johnson app done, as well as organizing my job stuff for my references so they can hammer those things out. Geographically, Joe and I are both applying to jobs at NM, but other than that it's all East Coast. Joe got an on-campus interview at St. Joe's near Philly at the end of the month, which will probably bring up a host of awkward timing issues if he gets an offer, seeing as none of my apps are even due yet as of today.
The other thing I did today was participate in a focus group on student housing near campus. It was fun; they fed us and also paid us, which was a surprise. Then Joe and I went to Maggie's and acted goofily. He's spent the rest of the evening grading these horrible papers for Intro Soc on class and race in which like half the class has written something like "people wouldn't be poor if they'd just get jobs." OMG.
