i think some day or another i'm going to slip one of the onion columnists into this and see if anyone notices.

it's been a long time since i rapped at ya. well, maybe not that long, but i know at least in theory this sort of thing gets filled with everything that's happening to me. of course, that would be foolish, since if it were true no one would have any cause to talk to me. it needs to be just exciting enough to convey why you should do so, while at the same time not obviating the need. obviate. it's my new favorite word. bear with me, people.

i played football today, which was a hell of a lot of fun. i should do it more often; it's fun and i'm good at it. it's the sport where my skills translate best; i'm fast and quick, but unlike ultimate football doesn't require a lot of stamina, which is good because i don't have any (and never really have.) it's good to know, though, that i could never have made a career out of it on account of being too short. probably.

tomorrow i'm leaving for san diego for a four-day math conference. i'm actually pretty excited about this, not necessarily because i'll get to see my duluth crew again (which is cool), but because it's the perfect primordial soup for me to try out my new extroverted personality on. for me to take risks with no real possibility of getting burned. and it has the mathematical aspect, too, which should be lots of fun in and of itself.

tonight? that leaves it more or less with laundry, packing, and completing the renaissance of this web page by updating that links page which doesn't really reflect anything useful. fear not; i have a kickass scheme for it. or, at the very least, a scheme.

i'm happy. four days in, and the year is going very well. more to the point, it's going very well by having variety. i can remember times when i've been happier doing the same basic thing or seeing the same people every day, but i don't think i've ever had a more variegated in a good way life. at least that's what the early returns say.

a final note: inspired by jeremy, i wrote a quick-and-dirty webstalking program to see who's looking at this. unfortunately, it is to a large extent failing miserably; this was a lot easier when i was at harvard, since everything was right there. now, i have no idea who these people from moffett air force base or other random ip strings are. moral of the story: email me. especially the one from moffett, since it's not so far away and who knows.
